Iconic outfits I'm constantly thinking about.

Most people get songs stuck in their heads. I get outfits. These are a few iconic looks that have been living rent-free in my mind lately, and I have a feeling they’ll stick with you too.
Megan Fox stealing her kids t-shirts.

OMG. I think of these outfits all the time when I want a simple look. Megan Fox really took the baby-tee concept to the next level by literally borrowing her step-kids’ graphic tees. Most of these paparazzi shots were taken while she was just out running errands or grocery shopping, which somehow makes the look even better.
Paired with low-rise jeans, those tiny graphic tees created such a simple yet iconic moment that permanently lives in my brain.

I’m not even going to lie, I have absolutely stolen my little brother’s t-shirts while trying to recreate these looks. And if you ask me, it looks just as iconic. I’ll throw in a picture so you all can see.
The best part about this look is how easy it is to recreate. Just grab a slightly-too-small graphic tee, throw on your favorite jeans, and suddenly you’re giving effortless, tomboy just like Megan Fox.
So be honest… are you stealing a kid’s shirt to try this one out? Let me know.
Britney Spears' "DUMP HIM" t-shirt.

Britney Spears wore so many iconic graphic tees throughout the early-2000s, but one look stands out to me above the rest. She wore a blue “DUMP HIM” baby tee styled with a gorgeous yellow jacket trimmed with fur, low-rise sweatpants, a blue newsboy cap, and a gold clutch.
It’s one of those outfits that feels chaotic in theory but somehow completely works in practice. Peak early-2000s energy.

What elevates this outfit beyond the clothes and accessories? The fact she wore it directly after she broke up with her then boyfriend Justin Timberlake in 2002. Rumors began circling that he had began dating another girl almost directly after. Her message to the media? "DUMP HIM". Iconic.
Paris Hilton's 21st birthday outfit.

A birthday outfit is serious business. Every year when I start planning mine, I’m reminded that I’ll probably never be able to top this iconic Paris Hilton look.
This iconic party dress by Julien Macdonald was worn by Hilton for her 21st birthday in London, 2002. She paired this gorgeous dress with a diamond choker, a blinged out watch, and of course, a tiara. Has anything else ever given "birthday princess" more?

This look isn't iconic to just me! It's been recreated many times, most notably by Kendall Jenner. Jenner wore this dress for her own 21st birthday in 2016 for an LA birthday bash. Now that's hot.
Cady Heron's pink and blue outfit.

I could write an entire blog post about all the iconic outfits in Mean Girls (2004). Maybe I will... but today, I'll write about a more under-reported outfit that sticks in my mind.
Lindsay Lohan looks absolutely stunning in this baby pink and baby blue moment. This is peak “Plastic” Cady Heron, so the whole look leans fully into that hyper-feminine vibe. I love the ruffles on her plaid skirt, the layering of the blue sweater over the pink cami, and how perfectly matchy-matchy everything is. To me, nothing is cuter than a look where the colors are coordinated down to the smallest detail.
Another thing I love? The way she carries a teeny tiny Louis Vuitton purse around school rather than a backpack. Practical? No. Iconic? Yes.
Princess Diana in athleisure.

As we all know, Diana, Princess of Wales was known as “the People’s Princess.” She’s also remembered as one of the best-dressed public figures of all time. But what many people might not realize is that there was actually a reason behind her now-iconic athleisure looks.
In the ’90s, it was practically unheard of to see someone of Princess Diana’s stature dressed this casually. As down-to-earth as she was, those oversized sweatshirts weren’t just about looking relatable. There was actually a deeper reason behind them.

There was a HUGE demand for pictures of Princess Diana in her athletic clothes. Vouge notes, "in 1993, The Mirror paid a reported 150,000 pounds for photos of Diana working out at her health club." Her comeback? Throwing a baggy (yet chic) sweater over her workout clothes after her gym sessions. She often re-wore the same sweaters to devalue the price of the paparazzi pictures.
I can't help but wonder if the Princess knew how iconic these moments would be. Regardless, the look has been recreated countless times over the years. Next time you see someone in some spandex, dad sneakers, slouchy socks, and an oversized cozy sweater, just know Princess Diana did it first. And now you know why!
Now you know what's going on in my brain when I stare aimlessly into space! I'm not just zoning out with no thoughts, I'm replaying these iconic outfits in my head and thinking, when can I recreate this look?
What are some outfits that live rent-free in your mind? Let me know in the comments, or connect with me on socials so we can talk all things fashion. I can’t wait to hear from you all.
Until next time!
Kindly,
Kat.
